Josh’s Story

How long have you been doing CrossFit program? What type of exercise or sport (if any) had you been doing previously?

I have been doing CrossFit for almost a year now. I had always been very active. I played football and baseball in high school.

What attracted you to the CrossFit program? What goals were you hoping to achieve?

One thing that attracted me to CrossFit was honestly how uncomfortable but humbling our work outs can be. Being uncomfortable during a workout to me is when you hit the point of telling yourself you can't do it. That you can't finish the task put in front of you. This tests our minds and who we are as people. Whether we get up off our feet or stay down because we can't do it. Being uncomfortable is how we grow and you can find it in something as simple as work out. Along with that our workouts can be humbling. There is always something your not good at and things to strive for no matter what level of a Crossfiter you are.

What were your feelings going into your first day of CrossFit and beginning this journey?

My first day was exciting but intimidating as well. I walked into the gym just like many of our members today. I met one of our coaches named Drew and he said " bring clothes, I'll see you tomorrow". I showed up to my first class and quickly realized how welcoming everyone was. I remember I was the last one to complete the work out. I started to get nervous but with everyone cheering me on I had no choice but to keep going. I then realized that I was capable of doing more than I thought. From that day on I was excited to really see what I was capable of doing.

What would you tell someone who was considering joining?

I would tell someone to just try it out. Surrounding yourself with good hearted, healthy people may just change your life.

Favorite CrossFit movement?

Favorite movement is probably the muscle up.

What impact has CrossFit had on your daily life?

Crossfit has taught me how to want to take care of myself.

Proudest CrossFit moment?
Proudest moment is when I walking into the gym my first day and obtaining my CF-L1.
